commonly called Meyer, of Asian origin, it was imported from the Far East by the Arabs many centuries ago.
Given the characteristic of its color, it is believed that it comes from the cross between a lemon and an orange.
The plant has a compact shape with an ovoid crown, the leaves are dark green and semi-glossy, with spiny stipules.
The pure white flowers are very fragrant and appreciated by bees.
Flowering in April, May and September.
The fruits ripen from September to April (Winter) and from June to August (Verdelli).
Meyer lemon is suitable for producing high quality sweets and desserts, just imagine the custard, Lemon Curd.
Care
Exposure to full sun
The plant resists temperatures down to -5°C.
Repotting is done during autumn and at the end of winter.
When repotting and every 2 years, manure should be added to enrich the soil with nutrients for the plant.
Watering is very important during the repotting period and during the summer.
It is better to limit pruning because the plant does not tolerate this action well, for this reason it is recommended to carry it out only when you decide to eliminate dry or damaged branches.
